Nikki, the restraining order has expired!!

« on: December 05, 2009, 08:20:12 PM »

I watch this show because I love seeing where they go. I DO NOT like the way they provoke right off the bat. Seriously,  Zak I really can't imagine the ghosts are afraid of the "guns".  So last night they went back to the Washoe were the original Ghost Adventures show began.  They are really expecting us to believe that the ghosts are actually saying their names. Yep, believe it or not they say they have caught evps that say their names as if looking for them!! I have always had a hard time with their evidence but this takes the cake. Who do they think is really buying this?

On a side note, I have a great offer for some beautiful oceanfront property in Idaho  maybe I should invest for when the real estate market takes off again.   sarcastic

Sadly, I think this is the inevitable result of market oversaturation.   There must be ten ghosthunter shows on now.

Anyone who has worked cases knows that 95% of the time is watching the grass grow.   How do you fill up ten shows a week and have anything compelling to show?   You can't.

I see the death of ghost hunter shows coming, at least for a while.  (and I hope that's the case.)   The longer they keep trying sell this crapola the more it will just make us all look like charlatans.   At this point, the shows are not doing real investigators any favors.   When the public begins to throw the BS flag then our credibility is gone, too.

Why Washoe? The original Ghost Adventure show (the 2 hour broadcast before they began the series) was at the hotel in Nevada. Dammit of I can remember the name of it. Gold something or something gold???
Remember, the one with the flying brick and board??

Then, as I recall, wasn't Bobby Mackey's the one of the first places they went in the series?

I agree John, most of the time, you are sitting in total darkness staring at walls and talking to the air in hopes of capturing something that you will have no idea you caught until after the equipment is all packed and you're back home in front of the computer pouring over hours and hours of audio and video footage trying not to fall asleep. It's a very boring job.
(Unless you go to Spring Hill Cemetery!) wink

The only ghost hunting show that I will be really happy to see leave the air is, dare I say it, Ghost Hunters.
I am grateful for the fact that it was them that got me into this field but, I think they took it way too far with all the marketing and money making schemes, even if it meant faking evidence and comprimising themselves as the real deal.
I wouldn't mind seeing that fat paycheck stop making it's way into Grant and Jason's money hungry wallets.

The only show that really keeps my interest is Paranormal State.   But I never catch anything the first time around.  Every one I've seen is a rerun so I've probably only seen the really good episodes.

I don't watch any of the ghost hunting shows anymore. (Don't hit me)
My DVR is set record Celebrity Ghost Stories, Nostradamus Effect, Mystery Quest and Destination Truth. Those are the only "paranormal type" shows I really keep up with anymore. Even though the NE and MQ don't always fall into that category...

The only reason I even watch DT is because Josh cracks me up! That dude is just funny as hell!

Same here with DT.  That Josh Gates is hilarious and not so hard on the eyes, in a strange kind of way.

I have been investigating the Paranormal, formally, for the last 7 years, long before Ghost Hunters.  It was probably for this reason that these shows NEVER interested me.  I knew how fake, made up, and Hollywood they were from the beginning.  I gave each show one episode to catch my interest, and sadly, none have.  Its just way to commercial and has glamorzied what I feel is a field that is not glamorous.  (unless you're talking about camp fire ghost stories -- but that's not what we're dealing with)
The only paranormal shows I enjoy watching are the ones that educate us on stories around the world.  (Haunted Hotels, Haunted Travel, etc)

I think that I will truly believe it all the day a spirit talks on MY recorder, shows up on MY camera or video, or just plain walks up to me  duderun.  I do find all of the shows interesting sometimes and enjoy comparing and learning their methods and such but I still think I have to have something happen to me directly for it to hit home.  I must admit, I watch them all.  I have no problems with any of the folks (not even Zak), well, wait the Extreme Paranormal people to me went over the line in their provoking but other than that, I like them all. Now, I have fallen asleep on alot of episodes too (from just about every show) but I still try to watch.  I too think that the investigation shows are dying down  rofl. I like, 'Celebrity Paranormal' alot too. The first hand accounts of stories by animated celebs is very entertaining to me!

John, PS starts back next week on the 15th  wahoo.

The shows that grab my attention are the ones that experience diabolical entities.  (Stevie Wonder saw that one coming from me, huh?)   It's funny to me that all these ghost hunter groups meet spirits every time they go out but none of them ever run into anything bad.   In my personal experience the bad guys way outnumber the good guys.

Not only that - but these "ghost hunters" open themselves up WAY to easily --- and I fear --- they may have invited in what they don't want.  <sigh>

Right on, Amy.   I think a lot of people have this crazy notion that what they believe in determines the truths of the universe.  If I had a dime for every sensitive who told me, "I only allow the higher level entities to contact me."   Well tell me your secret, sister!  Because I have found the bad guys will come through the pet door if you aren't guarding it.
